Hello and a very warm welcome to the Pear Tree Federation.

Tongwynlais Primary and Coryton Primary School form the Pear Tree Federation. The name comes from the historic Pear Tree farm that stood exactly midway between the two schools and would now be right in the middle of junction 32 between the A470 and the M4 if it was still standing. The two schools legally federated in March 2018, having worked in collaboration for about 18 months prior to that. We share one Governing Body which represents both schools. The Chair of Governors is Mike Jones Pritchard.

The Federation is a warm and happy place where we care about every child and their families, as part of our wider school communities.  We want our children to receive an excellent education but also to feel happy, safe and valued in the time in school with us.

I am the federation headteacher and I share my time overseeing both schools. The federation deputy is Miss Claire Francis. The assistant head, based at Tongwynlais, is Mrs Burge and the assistant head, based at Coryton, is Mr Barker. At least one of us is always available at school to help you.
