The Governing Body of the Pear Tree Federation plays a vital role in ensuring the schools within the federation provide high-quality education and support the wellbeing of pupils and staff. It works in partnership with the headteachers and staff to set the federation’s strategic direction, monitor performance, and ensure accountability.

Governors help oversee areas such as:

• Budgeting across the federation

• Staffing and recruitment

• Curriculum standards and consistency

• Safeguarding across all schools

They also act as a critical friend, offering support and challenge to school leadership, whilst representing the interests of parents, the local community, and other stakeholders. Their work is guided by Welsh Government policies and the principles of equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
